Dermatologist-led skincare brand KilgourMD has announced the launch of an anti-aging scalp care system, utilizing science to prevent hair loss caused by aging.
The two-step, patent-pending system was developed by Dr. James Kilgour, the brand’s CEO and founder and a Stanford dermatologist, with the aim of combatting hair thinning and scalp aging in both men and women.
KilgourMD’s latest launch includes two scalp products, both created using “nourishing, naturally derived ingredients” that help maintain a healthy scalp, according to the skincare brand.
The first product and stage of the KilgourMD system is The Prevention Scalp Serum ($89), an antioxidant serum. Designed for preventive scalp care, this serum specifically targets oxidative stress, which causes the acceleration of the scalp and hair’s aging process, to keep a thick and full hair look.
The product contains an active that the company said has been clinically proven to lessen hair fall by 30% in just two months by preventing environmentally-driven scalp aging. The brand describes this product as the “sunscreen for the scalp,” suitable for any ages.
The Prevention Serum works alongside the second product and the second stage of the system, The Treatment Scalp Serum ($89), a reversal serum with an intensive rescue therapy ideal for those whose hair has started to look thin or those who have noticed signs of visible hair fall.
According to KilgourMD, studies have shown that a green tea-derived active in the serum can stimulate hair growth by 200%. The brand describes this as the “facelift for the scalp.”
To use the products, apply a few drops of each at night to the scalp and massage in, the product description stated.
KilgourMD promised that its latest products are gentle and suitable for all skin types. The products are dermatologically tested and approved using natural ingredients, according to the brand.
The company also assured that the serums are cruelty-free, paraben-free, and do not contain other additives and harmful ingredients.
